Lord, Aeck & Sargent Rounds Out Credentials of its New Austin Office

Addition of two associates allows office to offer full range of capabilities in a wide variety of practice areas

AUSTIN, Texas, Jan. 5, 2012 – Following closely its November asset purchase of Austin’s TWC Architects, architecture firm Lord, Aeck & Sargent(LAS) today announced that with the addition of two associates, the Austin office now offers clients throughout Texas and nearby states the firm’s full range of capabilities.

John Kisner, AIA, LEED AP, and Nina Murrell, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, have relocated to Austin from LAS’ Atlanta office, bringing with them combined experience in the firm’s many practice areas – science, housing, arts and culture, education, historic preservation, planning and interior design – as well as experience on college and university campuses and ties with the Texas area.

“By relocating John and Nina, we’re strengthening our new Austin office, which for 28 years has been an award-winning, full-service architecture firm with a specialty in the rehabilitation, restoration and adaptive reuse of historic buildings, primarily for county and municipal clients,” said Joe Greco, LAS president. “While the Austin office’s  expertise working on legacy structures melds nicely with our own, John and Nina’s presence reinforces our full range of credentials and enables us to pursue a much wider variety of projects for colleges and universities and public agencies, which are traditional markets for our Ann Arbor, Atlanta and Chapel Hill offices.”

Greco also noted that Kisner and Murrell earned academic degrees in architecture from Houston’s Rice University and have maintained ties to the area and throughout Texas. For several months, Kisner has been traveling to Houston in his capacity as project manager for the firm’s ongoing renovation of existing laboratory buildings on the University of Houston campus.

Kisner, who has 22years of experience in architecture, has a set of skills concentrated in science and higher education facilities, including rehabilitation and project management of complex projects. In addition to having earned his master’s degree from Rice, he studied architecture at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design, and he holds a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the University of Virginia.

Murrell, with 16years of experience in architecture, brings strengths in higher education, academic galleries and museums, arts and culture, urban design and adaptive use in historic contexts. She earned her bachelor of arts degree in architecture as well as a bachelor of architecture degree, both from Rice University, and she studied architecture and urbanism at the Akademie der bildenden Künste and the Universtät für angewandte Kunst in Vienna, Austria, as a Fulbright Scholar.

“John and Nina will help integrate our office into the Lord, Aeck & Sargent network, round out our credentials so that we can offer the same type of expertise found in the other LAS offices, and help us develop business in new practice areas,” said Kim Williams, principal and director of the Austin office. “In addition, as LEED Accredited Professionals, they will help us design sustainable solutions for new and legacy structures.”
