Georgia Military College

Campus Master Plan

Milledgeville, GA

The Master Plan will help facilitate the siting of future facilities and has set about a strategy to formalize the existing campus around its historic center – the Old State Capitol Building.

Lord Aeck Sargent began our long-standing relationship with Georgia Military College (GMC) in 1998 with the rehabilitation of the historic Old State Capitol. Since completing that project, we have helped college officials in the development of a campus master plan and the design of a variety of academic, athletic and residence facilities. The Master Plan will enable the center of campus to be revived through the creation of a new quadrangle and re-construction of the historic Old Capitol Parade Ground. The construction of new facilities, including the New Academic Building, will enclose the quad's green space. The edge of campus will be extended through the construction of a new athletic center, rifle range and barracks facility.

Our work has also included the planning of a riverfront park and greenway adjacent to GMC's campus. The Greenway will include trails for use by the college and will serve as an effective multi-purpose recreation and nature area for use by the city of Milledgeville and GMC.
