Lord Aeck Sargent was hired by the Douglas County School Board to renovate and expand a two-building school originally built in the 1930s.
Our design for the new facilities included razing one of the existing buildings, renovating the other and adding a 31,000 square foot new addition. In place of the razed building are new parking facilities and a colorful bus drop-off canopy.
The resultant new school was inspired by the creative and uninhibited spirit of children. The colorful, playful atmosphere accented with geometric shapes and exposed construction elements was created to encourage interest in architecture and to provide an imaginative and fun school environment.
