Atlanta Connector Project

I-75/85 Connector Transformation Plan

Atlanta, GA

Lord Aeck Sargent worked with SWA Group, Midtown Alliance, Midtown Improvement District, Central Atlanta Progress, and Atlanta Downtown Improvement District to develop a bold strategic plan for transforming the “Connector” – an interstate route running through Downtown and Midtown Atlanta.

The vision melds landscape, lighting, art and signage to enhance the experience of almost half a million motorists as they travel through the city’s core. The long-range plan outlines a $30-40 million improvement program to improve the roadway and adjacent properties while reinforcing local economic, aesthetic and environmental initiatives.

In June 2012, the Georgia State Road and Tollway Authority and the Georgia Transportation Infrastructure Bank awarded the $400,000 to the Midtown Alliance and the Atlanta Downtown Improvement District for implementation of the Connector transformation Project.

The I-75/85 Connector Transformation Project and SWA Group were awarded an ASLA Texas Chapter Award of Excellence in Planning in April 2012.
