Lord Aeck Sargent provided laboratory programming and architectural design services for a new testing laboratory for Caris Life Sciences, which provides blood and tissue diagnostics and sophisticated molecular testing services to the health care market.
The project was a shell fit-out of an existing building for laboratory and administrative functions. The project was Master Planned as a 78,000 sf laboratory and has been constructed as a Phase I project totaling 41,148 sf laboratory and administrative support.
Caris provides diagnostic services for both generic tissue and fluid sampling along with unique, specialized testing required by their clients. The majority of the lab areas are open with 20% allocated to specialized labs with unique environments for individual test requirements.
The testing process begins, as with most diagnostic labs, with an Accessioning Lab where samples are first received, evaluated, coded and then sent on a variety of test protocols. Staff pathologists evaluate test results, and distribute those results to their clients for consultations with their patients.
