At Lord, Aeck & Sargent, interiors are not handled by a separate division—it’s a collaborative effort with everybody on the project team.
With interior design, we try to do very interesting projects, and we never let a budget limit our imagination. We want every project to be unique for the client. Ten years later, I want the client to call me and say, “Man, this place is still great. We love it.”
I think a good example of this was a project at Grady Hospital to convert an exam room area to the Grady Teen Center, which was sponsored by Jane Fonda and focused on sexual behavior and dos and don’ts. Most of the money went into demolition and installing new mechanical systems. So, we got really creative with the space as far as just using standard procedures and very simple materials. The result was an amazing space. We came in under budget on the furnishings and were on budget with the interior renovation. They were very happy with the space, and when we did the opening, Jane Fonda was very impressed with the end result given what little we had to work with.

In addition to specific project-type experience, our interior designers maintain professional interior design registration at the state level, NCIDQ certification, and memberships in multiple professional affiliations.
