AUSTIN, Texas, Jan. 5, 2012 – Following closely its November asset purchase of Austin’s TWC Architects, architecture firm Lord, Aeck & Sargent(LAS) today announced that with the addition of two associates, the Austin office now offers clients throughout Texas and nearby states the firm’s full range of capabilities.

John Kisner, AIA, LEED AP, and Nina Murrell, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, have relocated to Austin from LAS’ Atlanta office, bringing with them combined experience in the firm’s many practice areas – science, housing, arts and culture, education, historic preservation, planning and interior design – as well as experience on college and university campuses and ties with the Texas area.

NACOOCHEE VALLEY, Ga., Dec. 15, 2011 – A beautiful 19^th century Italianate farmhouse, once the home of a Georgia governor, has been restored and awarded LEED Gold certification by the U.S. Green Building Council. One of 18 historic structures on 173 acres of land known as Hardman Farm, the property is situated just outside the North Georgia mountain town of Helen.

The team of Garbutt Construction, which served as design-builder, and architecture firm Lord, Aeck & Sargent, partnered with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to restore the farmhouse, which was built around 1870. As the $2.1 million restoration took shape, in several ways it became a true historic preservation project.
