Georgia State University - Perimeter College

Newton Center

Covington, GA

Perimeter College's Newton Center for Higher Education is a multipurpose teaching and administrative building.

The building is the first on the new campus and serves 3,500 students in the first phase. It includes a variety of instructional, administrative, student activity and building services spaces that are required to establish a campus. It is anticipated that as the campus grows, this building will be adapted to a single purpose.

The current scheme contains 42 classrooms of various sizes and configurations, including a lecture hall, science labs and teaching labs. Office space is provided for senior administrators with secretaries, department heads, assistant department heads, departmental secretaries and faculty. There are also offices for the library, network, media and testing staff. The remainder of the building is dedicated to student support space, activity space and building services.

Lord Aeck Sargent, in collaboration with The Architecture Group, also designed the second building on campus, the Student Success Center which includes a large lecture hall, performance auditorium, a library as well as fitness, teaching and student activities common areas.
