Georgia Military College
James E. Baugh Barracks
Milledgeville, GA
The new barracks and student housing project is a three-story facility in a courtyard configuration that houses 248 students in 62 two bedroom, one bath suites.
The project also includes three resident advisor suites and common areas including: two computer lounges, game rooms, informal gathering spaces, a laundry and vending area and an administrative suite.
A single central entry lobby serves as the focal point for the courtyard, and with a central monumental staircase, the courtyard is an organizing element for the building. The project also utilizes the latest in campus security technology which enhances building security and connectivity.
The barracks project continues expansion of the campus beyond the historic square. Lord Aeck Sargent has completed several other facilities on campus, including the rehabilitation of the Old Capitol Building (2002), the design of the New Athletic Facility (2004), the design of the New Academic Building and Student Center (2005) and the design of Usery Hall Academic Building (2010).
