Duthie Center for Engineering Renovation

Louisville, KY

Duthie Center for Engineering renovation is a direct result of Lord Aeck Sargent’s work on the Speed School of Engineering Master Plan and the Speed Commons project development plan with the University of Louisville.

The Duthie Center renovation was needed to meet the Speed School of Engineering’s Program, providing much needed classroom, office and student support facilities. The two-story, 34,000 sf building, located on the University of Louisville Belnap Campus, underwent a complete renovation. The project was phased so that the building could remain operational during the renovation. In addition to classrooms and offices, the project includes a student commons area, providing food service and team study space. The Career Services Department is located near the Commons area.

The project achieved LEED Gold certification, focusing on the importance of energy efficiency and environmentally sensitive design.

In collaboration with Voelker Blackburn Niehoff.
