Hill Master Plan

Lord Aeck Sargent worked with the University of Tennessee, Knoxville to develop a master plan for The Hill, which is envisioned to be the nexus of STEM education and research on campus. Goals for the master plan include increasing the quantity and quality of STEM facilities; recruiting, developing and graduating a diverse body of STEM students; strengthening capacity and productivity in research; and supporting cross-college and cross-departmental initiatives. The master plan includes both new buildings and the renovation and reuse of existing buildings as well as cost estimating and suggested phasing to make those upgrades, and as part of this effort, 20 existing buildings were evaluated. This study analysed the needs of the College of Engineering (COE) and the Science units of the College of Arts & Sciences (CAS). This study assumed a ten-year horizon with a growth in undergraduate students to 27,000 and approximately 350 additional graduate student STEM enrollments.
