Planning

Providing creative solutions for land-use, planning, residential and mixed-use architecture is increasingly a key tenant of urban design. Lord Aeck Sargent’s Urban Design & Planning practice focuses on the design of walkable, livable urban communities.

We approach the built environment of each community as a “collage” of its unique people, politics and place. We believe in the principles of good urbanism – diversity, connectivity, sustainability. We are known for our strengths in public involvement, graphic communication and implementation strategies. These strategies are also beneficial to college and university campuses where walkable, livable communities have become critical components for attracting and retaining quality faculty and students.

Our work is varied in scale, from individual Buildings & Sites to the civic realm of Streets & Parks; from the institutional frameworks of Schools & Campuses to distinctive Neighborhoods & Districts; from regional networks of Corridors & Centers to even entire Cities & Towns. We have completed more than 350 planning projects across the country, and our plans have resulted in thousands of new housing units, first-class schools and institutions, hundreds of acres of new parks and open space, miles of streetscape and dozens of memorable places.
